Durga Puja this year was celebrated on October 4- 5, 2008 at Plainfield High School with a lot of fanfare and gala.
The sounds of "Dhak" and "Shank" playing in the background brought back nostalgic memories of past celebrations in India. The new Protima and the decorations were a sight for sore eyes."Dhunochi Naach" brought in some not so faint at heart, to the floor to seek Ma Durga's blessings.
After Aroti and a sumptuous dinner , the cultural program began. The audience was spell bound by Sukalyan's (and his team) performance and mesmerized by Raghav's classical voice.
On Sunday, about 60 kids ages ranging from 5 to 16 years participated in the Arts and Craft competition. Every child who participated got a medal. After enjoying a traditional "Bhog" of Khichuri and Labra, the evening program started with a dance drama by GSCA followed by modern songs by the famous Sumona Chakrabarty,a hilarious play by the Epic Actor Group of NJ .The evening came to a close after an entertaining modern songs by Aniruddh Mitra.
